Q:  What is SATCO?

The San Antonio Theatre Coalition is a non-profit service organization founded in 1995 to facilitate communication and cooperation among the many theatre organizations in and around San Antonio, Texas.

We welcome any and all theatre-minded individuals and organizations to join.   Actors, directors, techies, audience members, community-based, college/university, or professional theatres or any combination of the above.

All our members contribute to the vitality of theatre in San Antonio.  SATCO exists to provide a unified entity which helps all theatres to meet the challenges of the future as San Antonio and its arts continue to grow.

We provide a weekly listing of shows (Playbill) as well as Audition notification (E-Auditions).  Click here to sign up to receive the Playbill... the E-Auditions is sent to members only.

Q:  I want to Act.  How do I get started?

Go to an audition.  Find the audition notice you are interested in and follow the instructions.  Sometimes you will be asked to have a prepared piece or monologue.  There are many sources online for monologues.  Memorize it, and be prepared to act it out at the audition.

Q:  My child wants to Act.  How do I get her started??

Take them to an audition.  Find the audition notice they are interested in and follow the instructions.  Sometimes they will be asked to have a prepared piece or monologue.  There are many sources online for monologues.  Have your child memorize it, and help them be prepared to act it out at the audition.  There are also many local Workshops for children where they can learn more about the entire acting process before they step on stage.

Q:  Okay, I got a part, now what?

Show up.  Be professional.  Have fun.  You will most probably have a lot of fun during rehearsals, etc., but it is also very important to be professional, listen to the director, and to not miss any rehearsals or, most importantly, performances.  Yes, you need to be there.  Even if you don't have many lines, and only sing and dance in the chorus, you need to be there for every show.  And if you have even one line, you really need to show up!!

Q:  Can I be involved in theatre, without being on stage?

YES!  Local theatres are almost always looking for volunteers.  Stage hands, costumers, light / sound board operators, ushers, ticket agents, the list goes on.  No experience required, usually.  Just contact any of the local theatres and tell them you'd like to get involved.
