Marianna happened to be the lead actress in the
first SALT play I attended and reviewed for the Express-News. She proved that
night and in later performances what we should have discerned more readily and
must now take care to remember: A great and dedicated talent can flourish
anywhere, anytime, and under the most rigorous circumstances. I wish I had known
her this side of the footlights. Ibbs, Halligan, Igo and Blase -- what a
fortunate city San Antonio has been!

Marianna was a true lovely lady. She was a trained
professional actress, and that is someone we don't get the chance to see and
work with very often. She was a woman of grace, talent and beauty. I will really
miss her. She was a mentor, my touchstone, and my friend. Bob, my heart goes out
to you and your family.

I have good memories of Marianna the audience
member. She would come backstage after the performance, smiling and spreading
kind words.
I also used to like running into her and Bob in the lobby of the Olmos Theatre
and talking about movies with them.

I am so saddened at the news of Mariannas' passing.
San Antonio has lost a true Theatre legend! I was almost in a show with Marianna
once- we were both rehearsing for "The Importance of Being Earnest" at
the Playhouse- and I had to bow out after about a week into rehearsal- but I got
the chance to see her most wonderful interpretation of Lady Bracknel. My heart
goes out to her family.

My favorite theatre moment was with the ever
gracious Marianna - she is a wonderful soul and I am the fortunate one to have
known her.

I feel fortunate to have worked with Ms Blase when
she performed a comic turn as the nun in "Frankly Scarlette.."! the
comedy was so physical it was exhausting for everyone. I will always remember
her getting back into the revolving bed and right before we spun her back
onstage, she always made a comment.. usually bawdy.. while wearing a nun's
habit!

Marianna blessed our theatre community with so many
beautiful performances. I feel so fortunate to have worked with her in
"Marvin's Room." I was in complete awe of her elegance and grace on
stage. As for her warmth and charm off stage...Well, there were none to compare.
She will be missed. God bless her family.

Marianna should be remembered as "the actor's
actor" --- a consummately talented professional of vision, style, and
grace. She will be missed by this city's acting community.

I came to work at Harlequin Dinner Theatre as a shy
22-year-old college student in summer of 1975. The next day we opened "THE
GLASS MENAGERIE" starring Richard Jones, Frances Tucker, Tom Parker and of
course Mariana Blase. Not only was she a fine actress, but a gracious lady, and
I will always remember her as a very kind person.

As all who knew and worked with her will certainly
agree, Marianna was a gift to our community. We shall miss her, but thank God
for being able to journey with her on and off stage. Our prayers go out to her
family both in and out of the theatre. "Via con Dios, Marianna!"

I'll miss Marianna very much; she was a wonderful
woman and a great actress. I worked with Marianna during "Anastasia,"
and I enjoyed knowing her. I'll be thinking of Bob, and Marianna's family,
during this time.

Marianna was without a doubt one of my favorite
leading ladies. I was in two shows with her and each time was a dream. She could
hold the audience with just a look or that smile. During rehearsals for the
Cemetery Club, I was privileged to really get to know her and Bob. I will always
treasure our time together and know that she will forever be in my heart.
