The true stories of six courageous women sent to Vietnam and their struggle to make sense of a war that irrevocably changed them and a nation that shunned them. A work with the music and soul of a tumultuous era in our history.

Auditions are open to the public. Any civilian (non-military) wishing to audition need only be added to our gate list for access to Ft. Sam Houston. For gate access, please email robertjolivas@live.com by Tuesday, the 20th. 

Please prepare a 2-5-minute dramatic monologue and expect cold readings from the script. Sides are available upon request.

Characters Needed:

Martha (20s-40s) – Strong, self-composed, aura of self-discipline, military bearing. Strong face, American, almost pioneer in feeling.

MaryJo (20s-30s) – Pretty, outgoing, bubbly personality. Texas accent. Sexy; a funny comedienne quality; but sad inside. Looking for a skilled singer, guitarist a plus. 

Sissy (20s-40s) – Sweet, feminine, outgoing. Sense of fun. Also, a sense of harmony and warmth to personality.

Whitney (20s-40s) – Tall, slender, withdrawn, contained. Very aristocratic in bearing and quality. A Vassar graduate.  

Leeann (20s-40s) – Asian or Amerasian. Attractive. Strong, tough, determined in nature. An urban, hip quality to her personality.

Steele (20s-40s) – African American. Extremely strong, military bearing. Very intelligent, outgoing, great sense of humor. A pragmatist. Southern.

The American Men (20s-40s) – Versatile actors needed for a variety of roles.

Ride the Musical is a new original musical by Dan Timoskevich and Brandilynn Stillwell of San Antonio, TX 

"Ride" is the story of a taxi driver named Stockton who's underwater on his taxi medallion due to competition from ride share companies. He and his 20 something year old daughter Jess are struggling to make ends meet. Jess wants to go to acting school; he’s trying to keep them from being evicted. After a separate chance encounters with a limo driver, they both decide to test their limits as to what they're willing to do to stay afloat.

Seemingly comfortably ensconced in his charming Connecticut home, Sidney Bruhl, a successful writer of Broadway thrillers, is struggling to overcome a dry spell which has resulted in a string of failures and a shortage of funds. A possible break in his fortunes occurs when he receives a script from a student in the seminar he has been conducting at a nearby college—a thriller which Sidney recognizes immediately as a potential Broadway hit. Sidney's plan, which he devises with his wife's help, is to offer collaboration to the student, an idea which the younger man quickly accepts. Thereafter suspense mounts steadily as the plot begins to twist and turn with devilish cleverness, and with such an abundance of thrills and laughter, that audiences will be held enthralled until the final, startling moments of the play.

The Sisters of Perpetual Sewing miss the excitement of the old days when they were saving convents and reuniting long-lost families. So when they learn that the orphanage where Paul and Kate grew up is in peril, they can’t wait to come to the rescue.  But the merry mix-ups multiply in this warm and winsome sequel to Drinking Habits.

Director Lou Garza will hold open auditions for the S.T.A.G.E., Inc. 2018-2019 season production HANK WILLIAMS: LOST HIGHWAY the Music and Legend of Hank Williams, by Randal Myler and Mark Harelik.  Auditions will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May19, 2019 at Krause House Theatre, 1300 Bulverde Road in Bulverde.  Bring a prepared song with CD, cassette, or sheet music.  Performers are needed for the following roles:

Details:

A spectacular musical biography of the legendary singer-songwriter.  The play follows his rise from his beginnings on the Louisiana Hayride, to his triumphs on the Grand Ole Opry, to his eventual
self-destruction at age 29.

HANK WILLIAMS - A south Alabama hillbilly singer, thin.. (This part has been cast)

TEE-TOT - A black south Alabama street singer of indeterminate age.

THE WAITRESS - The keeper of an all-night diner somewhere in the south. A cheerful, lonely person.

MAMA LILLY - Hank’s mother.  A “Marjorie Main” - strong and somewhat overbearing.

HOSS - A member of Hank’s band, The Drifting Cowboys. Plays upright (”doghouse”) bass.

JMMY (BURRHEAD) - A member of Hank’s band, plays lead electric guitar. From Oklahoma, especially so in his speech.

LEON (LOUDMOUTH) - Band member and a skillful on many instruments, featured on the fiddle.  Pleasant and taciturn.

FRED ROSE (PAP) - A founder and executive of Nashville music publishing company. A Midwesterner from Chicago.

AUDREY WILLIAMS - Hank’s first wife, later his professional widow. A blond Alabama beauty, sweet, exuberant and sure.

SHAG - The pedal steel guitarist
