a long-running collaboration between
Jump-Start Performance Co. & San Antonio Dance Umbrella.

W-I-P provides a low-tech opportunity to receive feedback on movement- based work that is new or in progress. It is a innovative choreography development program created not only to facilitate the development of new works by dance and performance artists but also to establish a dialogue between the artist/choreographer, and audience. Artists are encouraged to present new works and to take part in an affirming, facilitated discussion based on choreographer Liz Lerman's Critical Response Process (CRP).

WIP is held 7pm at the Sterling Houston Theater (108 Blue Star, San Antonio, TX 78204) on usually the last Wednesday of the month beginning in September.

The Rules: There is no age limit for WIP, but the work must be the artist's own. Artists may perform at a maximum of 2 W-I-P's as long as they are not consecutive performances*. Choreographers will be paid an honorarium for participation and will receive a video of their performance. WIP does not grant comp tickets to friends or family of performers. Participants must be artists living and/or working in San Antonio. Artist must fill out the confirmation form to secure your spot. Artist must submit at least 2 questions for the audience (step 2 of CRP) one day before performance.
*we usually only ask or allow artists to perform a second time during a season if we are having trouble filling a spot.

Music Director and Audition Accompanist Needed
Crystal Sea Drama Company
Crystal Sea Drama Company is needing an accompanist for our auditions of Yankee Doodle Dandy, which will be on Dec. 15 from 2:30-5:30 p.m at our studio, 8414 Speedway. The accompanist must be an excellent sight-reader.

We are also looking for a music director. We have a rehearsal/performance CD, so the music director wouldn't have to accompany for the show. We need someone who can teach kids the songs in the show (mostly unison singing with just a few sections that have parts), lead them in warm-ups, and help them sing their best. Students range in age from K-12th grades. We rehearse on Thursdays, 2:30-5:30 p.m., starting November 17 (preparation for the auditions) and going through to performances, May 11-13. We can be somewhat flexible with the schedule.

Unfortunately, our finances are limited, so for both positions we can offer love and gratitude, a free t-shirt and comp tickets! :-) Hopefully, if we have enough ticket sales we can also pay a small stipend.

If you are interested, or for more information, please contact Irene Miller at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 210/849-0934.
