THE STORY: Successful Long Island businessman Joe Benjamin is a modern-day ‘Job’ with a demanding wife, ungrateful children, and wise-cracking household employees. Just when it seems things couldn’t get any worse, he is visited by Sidney a.k.a. A Messenger from God with a mission: test Joe’s faith and report back to “the Boss.” The jokes and Tests of Faith fly fast and furious as Neil Simon spins a contemporary morality tale like no other in this hilarious comedy.

Synopsis:
Driving Miss Daisy THE STORY: Daisy Werthan, a rich, sharp-tongued Jewish widow of seventy-two, is informed by her son that henceforth she must rely on the services of a chauffeur because she has recently demolished another car. The person he hires for the job is a thoughtful, unemployed black man, Hoke, whom Miss Daisy immediately regards with disdain and who, in turn, is not impressed with his employer's patronizing tone and, he believes, her latent prejudice. Set in the Deep South of 1948, the story spans twenty-five years, and the two, despite their mutual differences, grow ever closer and realize they have more in common than they ever believed possible—and that times and circumstances would ever allow them to publicly admit.

These Shining Lives

Sheldon Vexler Theatre
Playwright(s): Melanie Marnich
Opens on: 02/08/2020 and Runs Through: 03/01/2020
Days/Times: Thursdays at 7:30pm
Saturdays at 8:00pm
Sundays at 2:30pm
Synopsis:
These Shining Lives THE STORY: Based on the true account of four women who worked for the Radium Dial Company watch factory in the late 20’s and early 30’s, the play chronicles the danger women faced in the American workforce, and the lack of concern by companies for protecting the health of its employees. The story relates the strength and determination of women considered expendable in their day. They are dying, it's true; but theirs is a story of survival in its most transcendent sense, as they refuse to allow the company that stole their health to kill their spirits—or endanger the lives of those who come after them.

- "…has a humanistic glow…clockwork precision… an initially comic and ultimately tragic look at employment within a system more concerned with profit than safety."  - Variety

- "Perfect, touching and wistful…beautifully tragic."  - Talkin' Broadway

- "…subtly stylized language and a sensibility … probing troubling topics." - Washington Post

Location: Weinberg Campus JCC, 12500 N.W. Military Highway, San Antonio, Texas, 78231
